Preorder Oar Not
Bad puns for preorder links and a B&N sale
I owe you a newsletter or three. Look at you all, you signed up to get news first and here I am slapping content on instagram without giving you the inside scoop. I’m sorry, truly, I’m just lazy. That isn’t a crime. I’m avoiding all my writing tasks like you wouldn’t believe. I’m designing and redesigning my website. I’m posting nonsense on trial reels. I’m doing everything but writing a book or a newsletter, being everywhere but at my desk.
And yet somehow, the machine churns on. I’ve seen two rounds of sketches for the READY OAR NOT cover (and got to reply with stuff like “the angle of the oar isn’t quite right” and “AHHHHH” and “THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING”). I sent RoN off to copyedits, then completed copyedits, then pass pages, then second pass pages. We finalized the copy.
We fed out the retailer links. For the next three days (until June 26th), preorders are 25% off at Barnes & Noble for BN members (and signing up to be a member is free). I support you preordering the book wherever feels best for you, but if I have to pick a place it’s #1 your local indie, and #2 Barnes & Noble. [Ready Oar Not BN | A Uncertain Magic BN]
BN makes stocking decisions based on strong preorder numbers, and getting stocked in Barnes & Noble is a huge boon for a book. If there was ever a time to preorder my stuff, aka if you ever loved me, please do it now (laying on the guilt) and please get your friends to preorder too!!! RoN will release with both a hardcover and a paperback—BN stocks paperbacks, so preordering a paperback from them would be especially helpful!
This romcom has been a breath of fresh air for me. Writing a fantasy trilogy is a lesson in details, and the romcom has been a lesson in emotion. Both are making me better, and I need both to keep me sane. At some point I’ll shift into more promo for RoN and make some character art and introduce you all more properly to Maeve and Izzy and the chaos of their love story. I hope for now you can get a sense of things with the copy and a publication date: February 2, 2027
AND A COVER FOR READY OAR NOT SOOOOOOO SOON!!!
Good to be back with you all—
Kvita
