I keep this newsletter short and sweet so I will say shortly, and sweetly, that AN UNLIKELY COVEN has a cover.

Steph Hess at Orbit delivered magic. As we designed the cover, I thought a lot about what we needed it to convey, and what I want to simplify my book down to. That’s what pitching involves—an oversimplification. Readers, I hope, will find many layers to love and enjoy, but before they’re readers they’re strangers. And I’ve been ruminating on what I want a stranger to know, if they can know only one thing.

This book is fun. It emerged when I stopped taking myself so seriously and my craft much more seriously. I want people to know you’re supposed to have fun with it, get silly, enjoy magic, and have the characters feel like your friends. I want it to be a book you reread. And then reread again.

I think this cover does that: bold, bright, fun, witchy, magic. I’m very lucky.
